Our Lady of Lourdes - Villa Carlos Paz

Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, in the heart of Villa Carlos Paz

Just minutes from the center of Villa Carlos Paz lies a place of profound faith and contemplation: the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, a replica of the famous Massabielle grotto in France. Surrounded by nature and silence, this sanctuary is one of the most visited places in the region by faithful and pilgrims who come to pray, give thanks, or ask for the intercession of the Virgin. The image of Our Lady of Lourdes, carved in stone, watches over the place with tenderness and hope. Peace is felt in the air, and each visit is transformed into an encounter of profound devotion. This grotto invites you to pause, contemplate, and renew your faith.

Quebrada del Condorito National Park

Condorito Ravine National Park, Córdoba

Just a short drive along Provincial Route 34 from Villa Carlos Paz, this park is one of Córdoba's most impressive natural treasures. Located high in the Sierras Grandes , it offers panoramic views, trekking trails, and the unique opportunity to spot Andean condors in flight. Its biodiversity, natural viewpoints, and recreational areas make it a perfect getaway to connect with nature. Admission requires prior registration, which can be completed online, and its mountain climate adds a touch of adventure to the experience. The park owes its name to the presence of the Andean condor, one of the continent's most iconic birds, which can be observed in flight from the impressive viewpoints overlooking the gorge.

What to do in Villa Carlos Paz?

The Cuckoo Clock: icon of Villa Carlos Paz

Inaugurated in 1958, the Cuckoo Clock is one of Villa Carlos Paz's most iconic attractions. Designed by German engineers, it stands out for its 7.5-meter-high handcrafted mechanism and its traditional Cuckoo figure, which appears every half hour and hour. Located near the Uruguay Bridge, it became a classic postcard of the city and enjoyed international coverage, including in New York's Life magazine. Beside it, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church invites contemplation and prayer, transforming the place into a meeting place for faith in the heart of the city. Renovated with a fountain and a green wall, the clock remains a must-see meeting point for tourists and residents.

Cristo Redentor

Christ the Redeemer of La Cumbre

From Villa Carlos Paz , a trip of just over an hour along mountain routes takes you to a destination that invites reflection and contemplation: the Christ the Redeemer of La Cumbre . Located atop La Viarapa Hill, this majestic seven-meter-high sculpture was created by sculptor Luis Ramacciotti in 1954 and marks the end of a moving mountain Way of the Cross.

The statue, rising with open arms above the Cordoba landscape, can be seen from various access routes, but nothing compares to the experience of ascending to its base. The trail, about 600 meters long, is short but profound: with each step, the silence of the mountain, the birdsong, and the panoramic views prepare the heart for that encounter with the sacred. From the summit, Christ the Redeemer not only watches over La Cumbre and the Sierras Chicas: he also embraces every visitor. Whether as a pilgrim or as a curious traveler, this place offers an experience of faith and personal connection that is difficult to forget. Admission is free and can be visited year-round.
